Silver and King Salmon Fishing on the Okhota River

The Okhota River (Russian: Охота, lit. Hunting) is a river in the Khabarovsk Territory, historically it was the easternmost end of the Siberian River Routes.

It rises in Suntar-Khayata Range. After river flows in wide valley between Yudom and Kukhtuy Ranges into Sea of Okhotsk. The mouth of river is near Okhotsk.

Okhota River is 393 km long, its drainage basin area is 19,100 square kilometres.

The river is supplied with water by atmospheric precipitates. The river freezes at the end of October – beginning of November, and the ice brakes up on the river in May.

The banks of the river in the mostly foresty. There are Salmon spawning migrations in river. The lower reaches of the river are navigable.

Transfers

Regular flight Khabarovsk – Okhotsk – Khabarovsk conducted by the local airline (4 hours 30 min. one way, 1 stop);  80 km drive Okhotsk – Fishing lodge  – Okhotsk, 2 hour 30 min. by truck, Jeep or minivan.

Base camp with log houses (2/3 anglers per house), full board accommodation, electric power, Russian sauna/banya, dining room, excellent Russian meals cooked by our chief Galina

Fishing program and prices are subject to change

1^st day - Arrival in Khabarovsk airport, transfer to the hotel.

2^nd day - Free time in Khabarovsk if there is no flight to Okhotsk or regular flight to Okhotsk and transfer to the fishing lodge, accommodation, meeting with the guides and a cook.

3^rd day -  8th day – Fishing (using lighter fly rods, mice patterns, dry flies, hoppers, floating lures…etc.)

9^th day – Transfer to the Okhotsk airport, regular flight Okhotsk - Khabarovsk, transfer to the hotel, check in, overnight.

10^th day - Breakfast in the hotel, transfer to the Khabarovsk airport and
flight back home.
